Hector David Rosales is a cuban-born cinematographer based in Miami, who is passionate about capturing personal and intimate stories with a strong social focus.
Among his most recognized work, Hector shot Razing Liberty Square, a feature documentary nominated for an Emmy® Award. He’s also worked with global brands like Nike and Adidas, and has collaborated on projects that have appeared on HBO, Netflix, Arte TV, Telemundo, and Univision. His films have screened at major festivals including Cannes Lions Glass: The Lion for Change, Clermont-Ferrand ISFF, Hot Docs, Sheffield, LALIFF, NOLA, and the Miami Film Festival, among others.
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Cinematography from Cuba’s Film and TV Institute in 2015, Hector moved to the United States, where he has continued to develop and evolve his work.
Specializing in documentaries with a cinematic and poetic approach, Hector's portfolio spans documentaries, branded content, music videos, scripted films, and experimental projects. With experience as a director and editor creating personal projects, he understands storytelling from a holistic perspective, making him an excellent collaborator who can understands a director's vision.
He has extensive experience in framing and lighting interviews, verité filmmaking, camera operation, working with available light, and he thrives in small crews.
